The Texas Supreme Court on Thursday ruled against a series of lawsuits by the Texas and Harris County Republican Party attempting to stop curbside voting.
The court did not issue a detailed opinion as to why.
The decision is being hailed as a victory by Democrats who feared the court may have sided with the plaintiffs; earlier this month, the Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of a lawsuit preventing Harris County from sending out more than 2 million mail ballot applications.
“Today is a win by Texas voters for Texas voters,” Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement reacting to the ruling. “Texans will crawl through broken glass to have their voices heard in this election. It was ludicrous in the first place that Republicans don’t want Texans to vote and keep on pushing frivolous lawsuits to disenfranchise Texas voters.”
