The Texas Democratic Party announced Wednesday that Hasan Minhaj, best known for the Netflix comedy and talk show “Patriot Act,” will be featured as a guest at the Johnson-Jordan fundraising dinner.
Minhaj will join Hillary Clinton, Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Senate nominee MJ Hegar and others as guest speakers.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Texas Democratic Party’s annual Johnson-Jordan dinner to discuss Texas’ role as a battleground state and the important role the AAPI community will play in future elections,” Minhaj said in a prepared statement. “As the fastest-growing community in Texas, registering to vote and getting out to vote might be the difference between winning and losing the state.”
Texas Democrats said they are trying to reach the more than 1.5 million AAPI residents in Texas, whose voting-eligible population represents about 5.5 percent of the Texas electorate. AAPI Victory Fund, a PAC, is also making a $1 million investment in Texas for the same reason.
The Johnson-Jordan Dinner will take place Thursday, September 24, and begin at 6:30 p.m.
Like their state convention, the annual Democratic fundraiser will be entirely virtual.
