Texas a better place without retiring state Rep. Stickland

by | Jun 24, 2019 | Politics

State rep. Jonathan Stickland, a Bedford Republican, announced Monday he is not seeking re-election. In a Facebook post, he wrote that “it is not in the Lord’s will for me to seek re-election.” He said he wants to spend more time with his family.

Texas Monthly adorned the legislator with the newly minted Cockroach award because he “accomplishes nothing but always manages to show up in the worst possible way.”

It took Stickland six years to pass one bill.

Democrat Steve Riddell, who barely lost to Stickland by 1.4 percentage points in 2018, has already announced he plans to run again for the same seat.

The Texas Signal gave its F.U.B.A.R. award to Rep. Stickland. Watch.
