Let’s give credit where credit is due.
The GOP-led legislature passed and Gov. Abbott signed a new law, set to go into effect Sept. 1, that allows food retailers and some restaurants to deliver beer and wine to the homes of Texans.
The new law represents a win for companies like H-E-B and Amazon who have been experimenting with wine and alcohol delivery, with some restrictions, in numerous Texas cities like Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
It’s not the only decent law to come out of the Texas Legislature this past session. Another new law coming soon will criminalize the sending of unwanted nudes, creating a Class C misdemeanor and slapping offenders with a maximum $500 fine.
Other positive laws include the banning of red light cameras and banning of deceptive telemarketing calls.
