Sylvia Garcia And Lina Hidalgo Step Up For Biden Re-Election

Today, the Biden-Harris campaign announced fifty members of a National Advisory Board that will assist the President and Vice President as they make their pitch for re-election. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia of Houston are both members.

Garcia even appeared in a campaign video alongside Senator Cory Booker and Speaker Emirata Nancy Pelosi. The Biden campaign already tapped Congresswoman Veronica Escobar of El Paso  to be a national co-chair of the campaign.

In 2020, Trump carried the state with just over 52 percent of the vote, the worst performance by a Republican going back over 25 years. The matchup between Trump and Biden in Texas was also closer than traditional swing states like Ohio and Iowa.

The Biden-Harris re-election campaign has only started, but it’s a positive sign that several high-profile Texans are a part of the team. Biden could also get a boost if the Senate rate tightens. Ted Cruz is a historically unpopular figure even amongst Republicans. He’s already got one challenger in Congressman Colin Allred.
