On Tuesday, dozens of women running up and down the ballot in Texas were successfully nominated for the Democratic ticket.
Annie’s List, a political action committee that recruits and trains progressive women to run for office, said 12 out of the 13 candidates they endorsed for non-federal races prevailed on Super Tuesday.
“That success and the successes of the Democratic party as a whole speak volumes about the realities of the diverse voting population here in Texas,” Royce Brooks, Annie’s List Executive Director said in a statement. “It is clear that these gains are being driven by Texas women — both as candidates and as voters.”
Other female candidates also saw success, including Congressional candidates Wendy Davis, Kim Olson and Gina Ortiz Jones.
According to Annie’s List, 60 women were elected as nominees last night — two more than in 2018.
