Several of the candidates running for U.S. Senate will be joining Beto O’Rourke in Dallas for a rally on Thursday.
Air Force veteran MJ Hegar, former Congressman Chris Bell, and state Senator Royce West, Houston Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, Organizer Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez and others have confirmed they will be attending.
“We will not be defined by this president’s fear, his hate, or the differences between us that he tries to exploit but instead by a renewed sense of hope and a unified vision for the future of our country,” O’Rourke said in a news release promoting the event. “In this moment of smallness, paranoia, and division, Texas is going to lead the way with our strength, our courage, our diversity, and the big, bold, ambitious things we want to achieve together.”
The “Rally Against Fear” will kick off at 6:00 p.m., about an hour before Trump’s rally is scheduled to occur.
The Senate candidates aren’t the only Texas Democrats to counter Trump’s rally. The Texas Democratic Party is scheduled to hold a press conference with Dallas area lawmakers, including
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, State Reps. Ramon Romero, and Jessica González, to highlight Trump’s broken promises.
“Donald Trump is showing up to Texas with a trail of broken promises and with no real results for hardworking Texans,” the state party said in a statement.
