President Donald Trump is reportedly going ahead with multiple nationwide immigration raids that he called off last month.
In talks with a former homeland security official, the New York Times reported on Thursday that the raids will begin on Sunday.
The Times said that plan will include “collateral” deportations, meaning that undocumented residents at the scene of the raids are in danger of deportation and detainment as well, not just the raid’s original intended target.
The nationwide deportation operation remains in its preliminary stages and many of its details remain in flux, according to the Times.
Trump canceled the raids last month in order to give Congress time to reach an agreement about what to do about the humanitarian migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, and especially Texas where majority of migrant apprehensions and detainee deaths have been reported.
That deal came in the form of a $4.6 billion Senate-led bill which will give a blank check to federal agencies handling the crisis, namely Customs and Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Department of Defense.
It’s unclear if the new raids that are set to begin Sunday will use the same details that were revealed recently, an ICE-led “family operation” plan that aimed to target as many as 2,000 families in up to 10 U.S. cities, including Houston.
The Texas Signal reached out to ICE, as well as its local Houston office. The Houston Chronicle is confirming Houston is on the list of cities raided.
The ACLU has published an immigrants’ rights guide to serve as a resource about what to do during a raid. In Houston, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has offered her assistance for anyone in need of help during the raids.
The news of the rescheduled raids comes amid Trump reportedly set to make an announcement Thursday afternoon that he plans executive action to include a citizenship question in the U.S. Census.
