President Biden takes major new actions to conserve and restore lands and waters across the nation, including by establishing Castner Range National Monument in Texas.
At today’s White House Conservation in Action Summit, President Biden established the Castner Range National Monument in El Paso, Texas. This is part of the Biden-Harris Administration‘s commitment to protect, conserve, and restore our country’s land and historic sites for future generations.
Castner Range National Monument consists of 6,672 acres of high-desert mountains just outside of El Paso, Texas. This action will protect the cultural, scientific, and historic objects found within the monument’s boundaries. El Paso leaders like Beto O’Rourke and Representative Veronica Escobar celebrated the decisive action from the President, echoing the importance for the local community as well as expanding access to outdoor recreation on our public lands.
Castner Range is one of two national monuments announced today by the administration, including Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in Nevada. Together, these new national monuments protect nearly 514,000 acres of public lands and honor military veterans and Tribal Nations.
