Gov. Abbott signed into law a bill Tuesday that allows hemp products with less than .3 percent of THC to be legally purchased, which includes oils. Farmers can also grow hemp as an industrial crop in the state of Texas.
“The legislature got at least one thing right this session when they legalized hemp,” said Heather Fazio, director of Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy. “Texans are now free to use CBD without fear of arrest.”
[Editor’s note: It’s unclear if any large number of people actually had such fear, given how stores have been selling CBD products already.]
The CBD market is projected to exceed $20 billion by 2022.
