Early voting in Texas begins Tuesday. To promote it and stump for her husband, Jill Biden is traveling to three major Texas cities: Houston, El Paso and Dallas.
Jill Biden will meet in each of the cities with Democrats, including Beto O’Rourke, Rep. Veronica Escobar, Rep. Colin Allred, congressional candidate Candace Valenzuela, Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
The first rally will take place in El Paso Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., followed by Dallas at 3 p.m. and Houston at 6 p.m.
Recent polling points to a tight race between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Jill Biden’s visit may be a response to comments from Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa last month urging the former vice president to visit Texas. In an interview with the Associated Press, Hinojosa said Biden not traveling because of the pandemic was a “pretty lame excuse.”
Last week, the Biden campaign announced it would be spending $6 million on Texas campaign ads — more than any other Democrat in the state in decades, according to the Texas Tribune.
The last day of early voting is Friday, October 30, 2020. Friday, October 23, 2020, is the last day to apply for a ballot by mail.
