Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, the county’s top executive, is endorsing Democrat MJ Hegar for U.S. Senate.
“MJ Hegar is a decorated combat veteran who knows and understands the struggles and hardship that working families face in Texas,” Hidalgo said in a prepared statement. “I know she will fight every day to put hardworking families first when in office. I am so proud to endorse MJ and to make sure we elect her this November to bring leadership and results for Texans.”
In the same news release, Hegar said she was proud to have Hidalgo’s support and said she looked forward to fighting for Harris County residents and Texans.
On Monday, the Houston Chronicle Editorial Board also endorsed Hegar, calling her, “mix of energy, moral clarity and assertive pragmatism invigorating.” They said Sen. John Cornyn’s record in the Senate was not enough during, “deadly and divisive times.”
