Gina Ortiz Jones raises $1.7 Million in latest quarter

The campaign of Democrat congressional candidate Gina Ortiz Jones reported raising $1.7 million in the third quarter.

Jones has raised more than $5.7 million in total this cycle, according to the campaign.

A former Air Force captain and public servant, Jones is running to fill the retiring congressional seat of Republican Rep. Will Hurd.

During her first congressional bid in 2018, Jones came within a half of one percentage point from ousting Hurd.

Texas 23rd congressional district, which stretches from El Paso to San Antonio, is one of the most closely watched competitive races in Texas this cycle.

Last quarter, Jones outraised her opponent Tony Gonzales by a margin of more than three to one.

“With less than a month before Election Day, the energy behind our fight for working families in South and West Texas continues to grow,” Jones said in a prepared statement on Monday. “I am grateful to every one of the grassroots supporters who chipped in to our campaign, and I look forward to flipping this district and being a champion for hardworking Texans in Congress.”
