Environmental Defense Action Fund, the campaign arm of the Environmental Defense Fund, announced Tuesday that it would launch a $500,000 ad campaign pressuring conservative and moderate Democrats to go big on fighting climate change.
The digital and tv ads will target Reps. Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), and Filemon Vela (TX-34).
The ads will urge lawmakers to support climate solutions that are a part of Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.
Here’s an example of what viewers would see in South Texas:
“Texas is ready to power up by creating jobs in America’s fastest-growing industries. With the support of Henry Cuellar, we can supercharge new technologies, fortify our electrical grid, plug orphan wells across texas and be ready for whatever nature throws our way. This is our one big chance to build back better and create the jobs of the future right here in Texas. Congressman Cuellar let’s finish the job.”
The ads are part of a $2.5 million ad buy running in September to support clean energy and transportation investments that are being debated in Congress.
“We have a real window of opportunity to make the critical investments in our infrastructure that would really benefit Texas’ economy in the near- and long-term,” said Colin Leyden, Texas Political Director for EDF Action. “This includes serious investments in fixing our electrical grid and making Texas a leader in creating the good-paying clean energy jobs today. There is no question that this would be a big boost for our health, economy and environment. It’s time for action. And we need Representatives Lizzie Fletcher, Vicente Gonzalez, Henry Cuellar and Filemon Vela to finish the job and power up Texas.”
