Forward Majority, a national Democratic super PAC, announced this week it would be pumping $6.2 million into Texas House races.
The investment comes as recent polling shows the lower chamber is poised to be captured by Democrats.
A generic poll of Texas House battleground districts last month by Data for Progress shows Democrats leading by three percentage points, 45 to 42. The same poll shows Former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Trump 49 to 42 in those swing districts.
The investment from Forward Majority could help swing the balance of the statehouse where Democrats are just nine seats away from capturing the majority.
Democrats are targeting almost two dozen districts where U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke performed well in.
“So much is at stake in November and national groups like Forward Majority understand that importance,” Texas Democratic Party Communications Director Abhi Rahman said in a recent statement. “Together, we will take back the Texas House. When we do, Democrats will deliver on the fair shot everyone deserves to get ahead. From expanding Medicaid to drawing fair maps in redistricting, everything is on the line.”
