Biden, Mayor Adams Slam Abbott for Busing Migrants to NYC

Over the weekend, the Biden Administration denounced Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s latest political stunt, which added New York City to the list of destinations for busing asylum-seeking migrants from the Texas-Mexico border.

“So, you know, it’s the latest stunt from the governor — another stunt of busing de- — busing desperate migrants across the country,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre said at a press briefing. “And he’s using them as a political — you know, as a political ploy. I mean, this is what he’s been doing, and it’s shameful.”

Since April, over 5,100 migrants have been transported from Texas to Washington D.C. in Abbott’s way to challenge Biden with the “mess he’s made at the border.”

But in reality, according to reports, many migrants have seen this bus ride as an opportunity to reach their final destination.

Now with the addition of NYC, that number is expected to grow.

“Because of President Biden’s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,” Abbott said.

“In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city. I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”

Over 68 migrants arrived in NYC on Friday, with Mayor Adams slamming Abbott in a press conference on Sunday and said migrants were forced against their will.

“It’s unimaginable, what the governor in Texas has done,” Adams said in a press conference. “When you think about this country, a country that has always been open to those who were fleeing persecution and other intolerable conditions, we’ve always welcomed that. And this governor is not doing that in Texas, but we are going to set the right message, the right tone, of being here for these families.”

According to reports, Abbott’s voluntary transportation system has cost Texas taxpayers over 1.6 million dollars, and the governor has fallen short of raising the money to compensate for the costs. On July 22, his office website cites that the governor has raised $118,297.
