Two new polls released recently — one by CBS News and another by The Dallas Morning News — show a close presidential race in the Lone Star State.
The CBS poll, released Sunday and conducted last week, shows former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump almost even in Texas.
The poll found that among 1,212 registered and likely voters in Texas, 45 percent said they would vote for Biden and 46 percent said they would vote for Trump.
Another poll released by The Dallas Morning News on Sunday shows Biden in the lead. Of 1,909 registered voters surveyed last week, 48 percent said they would vote for Biden while 43 percent said they would vote for Trump — a 5 point lead for the former vice president.
The Dallas Morning News poll is the first survey showing Biden with a somewhat comfortable lead over Trump in the Lone Star State.
An aggregate of several polls conducted in the state since late May suggests Biden and Trump are in a statistical tie in Texas.
