Governor Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday that all businesses can open at 50 percent capacity “with very limited exceptions,” as part of the third phase of reopening the Texas economy.

In his executive order, effective immediately, Abbott also stated that bars and similar establishments may increase their capacity to 50 percent, “as long as patrons are seated.”

And on June 12, restaurants will be allowed to increase their capacity to 75 percent.

The Phase III plan was approved by the four doctors on the Strike Force to Open Texas medical team, as per the announcement.

The latest data shows that Texas has more than 20,000 active ongoing cases, with 1,700 fatalities.

Phase II was announced on May 18, in which Abbott gave the green light to resume services such as child care centers, bars, and zoos, and activities like professional sports and youth camps.
